The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever. He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
(Judaism / Christianity, Holy Bible, Psalms, 111:2-4)
Then We caused Our messengers to follow in their footsteps; and We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow, and gave him the Gospel, and placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him.
(Islam, Holy Qur’an, Sura 57 – The Iron, 27)
All men have been created to carry forward an ever-advancing civilization. The Almighty beareth Me witness: To act like the beasts of the field is unworthy of man. Those virtues that befit his dignity are forbearance, mercy, compassion and loving-kindness towards all the peoples and kindreds of the earth.
(Baha’i Faith, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u'llah, p. 215)
What nurtures your soul? What makes your heart tender? Prayer, music, fellowship, tea poured in peace, homemade banana bread baked with love and shared with a smile? Whatever the answer might be, sharing prayers with friends gets us all closer to the Creator.
This Thursday, March 31st, I invite you and your loves ones to an interfaith Prayer Station in Arlington on the theme of “Divine Compassion”. We’ll start at 8 pm with reading of selected Holy Writings and Prayers from different faith traditions. Feel free to bring your own books of prayer or inspirational poetry. We’ll also uplift and refresh our souls with music, and we’ll conclude with tea and sweets.
We’ll also say prayers for anyone in need, so if you can’t join us and would like to request prayers please contact me.
